Sometimes it's just fun to go all 'scrapbook' here at StyleMutt Home. It's always been important to Cate and I to have a homey, personal blog. Our lives are full of so much more than home decor and DIY and it's fun to share those other things too from time to time! I've had a blog for over 3.5 years, (I can't believe I've had that much to say, lol!), and along with the furniture refinishing adventures, dabbling in interior design, and the ups and downs of creating our home, it's been a place to document all that goes on inside our home's walls. I don't know which has evolved more over the years - the style of our home or the kids! So here's what's up these days. Either get excited or scroll really fast. Or run for the exit. Your choice.
This 4 year old boy absolutely cannot seize the day until he's had a good snuggle. Every single day it's downstairs in his tighty-whities to find where I am and crawl in close. I know this may not be as cute in 10 years, so I'm soaking it in. Also, someone please tell me when it's not supposed to be cute anymore. I'm afraid I'll miss the exit and then he'll have all these weird Freudian issues...
Summer breakfast = berries and greek yogurt. I love Fall and Winter, but I always miss the berries. I need a fresh replacement for Fall and Winter. Any suggestions? I usually do eggs but they never get me excited. I'm all about a breakfast I can get excited about.
We got our Summer crisis! We tend to get one mediocre crisis every Summer and this year it came in the form of a good ol' basement flood. That wet spot started at 3" in the morning, then grew to 14". At that point I realized there was water under our carpet! AC was to blame and got repaired today. Anyone wanna place bets on how long it will take us to get a new rug pad, put the carpet back in place, and put the basement back in order? I don't gamble on my own life but this will drive me crazy until it's completely back to normal. I'm staring at the mess of it all right now. And wondering if we should just jump on new carpet. Or something else. Annnnnd there goes my blood pressure...
Every crisis needs a hero to save the day! We retreated to drier ground at my folk's beautiful home just across town. It's too bad things got resolved with our flood as soon as they did. ;) We should do a full home tour soon, shouldn't we!? I know where you live and I know your garage code, Mom. Don't be surprised to find a full tour of your home on here someday soon.
Trucks, trucks, and more trucks. Truck toys, trucks made from legos, trucks made from pillows, trucks on the iPad, and now, trucks made from envelopes. I guess if I'm going to give up on the art of letter writing I may as well make use of those crisp white business size envelopes! Also, boys playing on their knees is one of my favorite things. I'm so in love.
So just to recap: Tighty whities, upcoming berry withdrawl, the great, (little), flood, escape to the Henderson abode, and paper envelope garbage trucks. Or is it trash trucks. This is the ultimate debate between our boys, Colin, 5, and Mason, 4. And that just about covers all the important stuff!
More interesting things are coming soon - like what we'll be bringing with us to the Sweet Clover Barn sale August 21-23! Can't wait to join together with the local talent to offer unique, one of a kind pieces in one of the most picturesque places around! Seriously, bring those selfie sticks! LOL!
Thanks for stopping by, friends! You guys are so dear.
