Only 4 manageable updates were used to completely transform this kitchen from dark and dreary to bright and functional! !) Paint the backsplash the same color as the walls. It was previously a dark purple-ish gray stone, so to save money we had the clients paint right over it! Now it looks like a clean custom color tile. 2) Replace the high gloss cherry red island counter to a more organic butcher block. 3) Continue the organic vibe with blue ceramic pendants 4) Swap all the dated cabinet hardware for simple matte black. These updates along with fresh vintage rugs, warm leather stools and natural decor around the space create a cohesive kitchen that echos the vibe in the adjoining family room and eat-in area!

The eat-in area that shares this beautiful space was a fun opportunity to meld the family’s history and interests into a personal gallery wall. I used another ceramic pendant over the simple walnut dining table and folded in some texture with cane chairs. A vibrant vintage rug pulls the moment together and brings it all to life!
